Taylor Swift to receive honorary doctorate degree from New York University

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift will be receiving an honorary doctorate degree from New York University and will also give a speech to the class of 2022!

In an announcement made by the New York University (NYU), they excitedly shared the list of honorees for their upcoming commencement ceremonies that will be held on May 18, at the Yankee Stadium, for the first time since the pandemic. The 2022 honorees include the award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, and director Taylor Swift as one of the recipients, along with Susan Hockfield and Félix Matos Rodríguez.

NYU will be awarding Taylor Swift with her first college degree with an honorary doctorate of Fine Arts, with an official title of Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa. The singer will also officially participate in the graduation ceremony of the class of 2022 and is set to deliver a commencement speech addressing the university graduates and guests.

One of the most successful musicians of her generation, Taylor Swift is a 12-time Grammy winner, and the only female artist to win the Album of the Year four times (12 Grammys now, counting her recent Album of the Year win for “Evermore” at the 2022 Grammy Awards). Swift was also named the Artist of the Decade in 2019 at the American Music Awards and also earned the Global Icon Award at the 2021 BRITs Awards, along with hundreds of other awards. Swift is set to celebrate another achievement, as she receives her honorary doctorate. And of course, Swifties all over the world could content their proud moment about the singer’s achievement and also shared their excitement and their surprise reactions upon finding out about the announcement, especially the actual NYU Class of 2022!

Despite having a busy schedule and is believed to be re-recording her discography to own its rights, and who will also be releasing an original song, Carolina, to be featured in the upcoming film, Where the Crawdads Sing, Taylor Swift proves that she doesn’t waste time in putting in the work, as she achieves another milestone in her life.

Truly we can’t help but sing, we don’t know about you, but we are feeling ‘22! Advance congratulations to the soon-to-be Dr. Taylor Swift and the class of 2022!

NYU also recently launched a course dedicated to Taylor swift where students can immerse themselves in the singer’s early beginnings in the music industry and how she rose to become one of the most admired global pop icons.
