BLACKPINK’s LISA wants you to call her ‘LALISA’ in powerful solo debut

What’s her name? Call her LALISA.

BLACKPINK’s main dancer, lead rapper, and fashion icon LISA has finally dropped her much-awaited debut single album on September 10, 2021 at 1 P.M. KST. Her debut single album, LALISA, is named after her, which means “the one who is praised” in the Thai language.

In her online press conference hours before her solo debut, LISA shared the reason why she named her album after her. “I wanted to show the coolest side of myself through [the album]. I wanted to show myself, Lalisa, exactly as I am, which is why I ended up using this title.” She also said that because the name of the album is her name, it holds a lot of meaning for her.

The album includes 2 tracks, titled “LALISA” and “MONEY”, and their instrumentals. The music video for the album’s lead single was also released at the same time, garnering over 8.1 million views as of writing. The music video showed LISA’s dynamic and swag aura as an artist, even including elements of her Thai heritage and nationality.

LISA’s latest release marks her as the third BLACKPINK member to debut as a solo artist, following Jennie back in November 2018 with “SOLO”, and Rosé in March 2021 with “-R”.

The album includes 2 tracks, titled “LALISA” and “MONEY”, and their instrumentals. The music video for the album’s lead single was also released at the same time, garnering almost 16 million views as of writing.

Fans have finally been fed with content from their favorite K-Pop idol, trending “TODAY IS THE DAY” just a few hours before the album’s release, “LALISA”, and “Thailand” almost immediately after the MV and album was dropped.

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on September 3, 2021, announced that the Thai K-Pop icon will be performing her solo single “LALISA” on their show on September 10, the date of its release.

BLACKPINK has appeared on the show a couple of times, with Rosé also performing her debut single “On the Ground” on the show as well.
