Get your fab on: Manila Luzon to bring country’s first drag reality show

Heads up, drag addicts! A new drag show is coming to the Philippines soon, to be hosted by “RuPaul’s Drag Race” queen Manila Luzon. “Drag Den Philippines” will be the country’s first-ever local drag-themed reality competition, which aims to push the drag scene into the mainstream.

The series was officially announced on July 1st through its social media accounts. A week after this, they released a video to call for talents in preparation of the oncoming auditions to be held soon. The teaser flaunts the show’s Filipino touch, featuring the globally renowned drag queen.

Drag Den Philippines plays into the “drug cartel” theme, incorporating puns to further drive the point home. Manila Luzon even calls herself the Drag Lord—leader of the pack. Make no mistake, she is determined to find and crown the winner of this brand new show.

The Filipino-American star is known for being one of the queens to join the third season of popular reality program “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, where she placed 2nd. She also joined the competition’s All Stars seasons twice.

Manila’s show will be the latest addition to the drag series roster not affiliated with the “Drag Race” franchise. Fellow “RuPaul’s Drag Race” queens Peppermint and Crystal were also recently announced to lead their own drag series along with Canadian performer Barbada.

Through an exclusive interview, Manila said that she hopes to shine a spotlight on Pinoy drag queens and create an opportunity for them. She wants to share the experience she had previously.

“I’m so excited to be able to give back in some way. In the Philippines, the drag scene is still quite small and underground, so I’m excited to bring it to the forefront.”

Watch out for updates about “Drag Den Philippines” through their social media accounts. The fierce and fabulous dragdagulan will arrive soon!
