Ateneo Mathematics Society to bring Mathventure to the online community this April

Are you ready for a mysterious adventure?

Mathventure Mystery: Numbers Don’t Lie, this year’s rendition of the Ateneo Mathematics Society’s premier symposium, is a three-day event directed towards fostering math appreciation and math education – two of the organization’s core competencies. Now in its second year, this event will take place on April 10, 17, and 24, 2021.

Ateneo Mathematics Society Mathventure

Students from high schools all over the National Capital Region (NCR) will be participating in workshops on pure math, finance applications, data science applications, and STEM-related careers. They will have the opportunity to learn from esteemed speakers, Dr. Mark Loyola, Mr. Len Patrick Dominic Garces, Mr. Albert Yumol, and Dr. Evangeline P. Bautista. This event aims to build knowledge and interest in the field of mathematics, but of course, with an element of fun through an online escape room, amazing race, and many other group dynamics that participants are sure to enjoy.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing the participants have fun during Mathventure. Having to witness the project come to life and the high school students enjoy what our team has prepared for the past few months will make all of it worth it. The past amazing race of Mathventure received great feedback and is probably the activity that the participants enjoyed the most. We’re both thrilled and scared to see how the amazing race will translate to the students in the online setting.” Danne Franco, one of the project heads says.

Despite Mathventure being fully online this year, the team behind the project sees this as an opportunity to reach out to a wider audience. Zoom and Facebook will be the main communication platforms used. By capitalizing on accessibility and inclusivity, this once in a lifetime experience could allow an influx of participants nationwide, especially those who are eager to explore the different fields and applications of mathematics.

According to Lorenzo Fallarcuna, one of the project heads, “Everything has been transitioning to the new normal and in months of preparation and collective effort of the team, Ateneo Mathematics Society has set to offer its very own online Mathventure for the high school students. The call for math appreciation has to keep going!”

With less than a month to go, don’t miss the chance to uncover the secrets that await you in Mathventure Mystery! You may access the registration form here: bit.ly/Mathventure2021Registration.
