Kurei is giving us a glimpse of her upcoming EP entitled ‘Musings’ through her latest single ‘Stay The Night’. She shared that the song is “… all about appreciating someone who makes you feel something, it’s acknowledging your feelings toward that person and just wanting to be with them”. Originally written as a poem, Kurei presented the song to her producer, Eunice Jorge of Gracenote way back in 2017. After working on it together for quite some time, the melody and the whole song finally came into completion.
Kurei is known for her soulful renditions and her music that can be described as soft, chill, and steady. She takes inspiration from international artists such as Raveena, WET, Daniel Caesar, and Snoh Alegra, whose song ‘I Want You Around’, she recently made a cover of. Aside from her own compositions, she also covers hit songs in the pop, indie, and classic genre.
At the recent 33rd Awit Awards, she was nominated as the New Female Recording Artist while her song ‘Eto Na Naman’ was nominated for Best Ballad Recording. Her single ‘Paasa’ hit #1 spot on Spotify Philippines’ Viral 50 last year and reached 2 million streams. The lockdown has also brought about ‘Quietalks’ – an FB Live kwentuhan wherein she, along with fellow artists, talk about their experiences in life and in their respective careers.
Kurei’s upcoming EP ‘Musings’ includes 6 tracks, ‘Eto Na Naman’, ‘Stranger’, ‘Sunset’, ‘Stay The Night’, ‘Get Out’ and ‘Sana Bukas’. Get a feel of her upcoming EP by streaming ‘Stay The Night’ now available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and all digital stores worldwide under Universal Records.
