CULVER CITY, Calif., May 5, 2016 – To celebrate the imminent release of Columbia Pictures and Rovio Animation’s 3D CG-animated comedy “The Angry Birds Movie,” Sony Pictures will host 41 “Red’s Carpet” premiere events in 343 countries around the world on Saturday, May 7.

Countries as wide-ranging as the U.S., U.K., Spain, South Africa, Philippines and Australia, destinations as remote as Montenegro and Nigeria, and many more will each do their share as the red carpet spans the globe. The film’s English-language stars, including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Maya Rudolph, and Bill Hader, as well as the film’s musical star Blake Shelton, will celebrate at the official World Premiere in Los Angeles, California.

In the Philippines, the Red’s Carpet premiere will take place in SM Megamall and is expected to be attended by celebrities and fans of the game.

The full list of countries set for Red’s Carpet Day includes Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Ecuador, Estonia, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Luxemburg, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

“We’re thrilled to be rolling out Red’s carpet across the entire globe, all on the same day. The movie has been translated into 42 languages and dubbed by some of the funniest comedy stars in the world, so it’s exciting that audiences of all ages in every country will be able to enjoy the film. No matter where you live, you’ll be able to get into the spirit on a local level with fun events,” said John Cohen, producer of “The Angry Birds Movie.”

A few days later, on Tuesday, May 10, the movie’s all-star international voice actors will participate in an exciting and colorful photo call celebrating the opening of the Cannes Film Festival. On hand will be English-language voice actor Josh Gad (Chuck, in his first animated film since “Frozen”) as well as Omar Sy (“The Intouchables,” “Inferno,” and the voice of Red in France), international TV personality Raya Abirached (who voices Matilda in the Middle East), popular comedian and actor Maccio Capatonda (who voices Red in Italy), comedian Timur Rodriguez (who voices Chuck in Russia) and producer John Cohen.

In the 3D animated comedy, “The Angry Birds Movie,” we’ll finally find out why the birds are so angry.

The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.

Featuring a hilarious, all-star voice cast that includes Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Peter Dinklage, as well as Keegan-Michael Key, Kate McKinnon, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Jillian Bell, Danielle Brooks, Latin music sensation Romeo Santos, and YouTube stars Smosh (Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla), the Columbia Pictures/Rovio Entertainment film is directed by Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis, produced by John Cohen and Catherine Winder, screenplay by Jon Vitti, and executive produced by Mikael Hed and David Maisel.

Opening across the Philippines on May 11, “Angry Birds” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
