Pagsilay 2020: Lukan Community welcomes Batch 2025 in survivor-themed FOP

The Freshman Orientation Program (FOP) 2020 welcomes incoming freshmen via Zoom marking the first time for this annual event to happen online. The two-day program was inspired by the TV Show Survivor as the students were sorted into eight (8) different tribes, namely Lakambini, Dian Masalanta, Lakan Danum, Idianale, Mebuyan, Anitun Tabu, Makaptan, and Bathala.

The event details mainly on student life and the college. In her opening remarks, Dean Susan Nagtalon welcomed the incoming freshmen as the 26th batch of SLMCCM-WHQM medicine program. Through virtual tours, the freshmen were able to sight the different spots in the college without being physically present in the institution itself. Furthermore, they were introduced to different services on what the college can offer, such as library, guidance and counseling services. Because it is now a new way of learning, the students were also oriented regarding online classes which will be held throughout the semester.

Different talks and performances were conducted by the student council and various organizations: Sagip-Bayan Student Group, Agape, Iatros, Musician’s Circle, SLCM Chorale, and St. Luke’s Dance Company & Athletics Guild. By this way, these organizations got to showcase their abilities for them to encourage the freshmen to involve themselves in extracurricular activities. The event would not be complete as well without interactive games where camaraderie was tested among the tribes.

The FOP was organized by the Internals Committee of SC, together with Batch 2024 headed by Jeremy Cairo. This event was hosted by Bea Piedad and Hannah Morales. This event would not be possible without the generosity and active support from its sponsors and partners. The event organizers offer their most sincere gratitude to the co-presenters: Amboss, Stream Concept, Shopee, Glutaphos Neurotonic and Klean Kanteen; to the major sponsor, Lecturio; to the contributor, Boards & Beyond; to the official media partners, INQUIRER.net and WhenInManila.com (exclusive blog partner).
