Driving forward in the New Normal with Archers for UNICEF

The global pandemic of COVID-19 impacted numerous countries and people were forced to take action to cope with the lockdown restrictions. The Philippines adjusted to the new normal due to the implementation of lockdown restrictions and many people were negatively affected by the pandemic as well as the lockdown. It is important that Filipino citizens should be aware and be vigilant of the events happening around them especially that we are in the middle of the pandemic.

Education plays an important role in keeping people aware as well as develop our minds to learn different morals and values around us. There are various issues happening around the country that need to be addressed even in the new normal and awareness would let people realize that we have the responsibility to sympathize and support others that are in an unfortunate situation during this global pandemic.

The Filipino youth should be educated on issues such as the pressure of online classes, sexual harassment and discrimination in schools, recession and unemployment caused by the COVID-19 outbreak and awareness towards the truth regarding information sharing in the new media. By addressing these issues, women and the youth can address their well-being too amidst the challenges brought by the pandemic and encourage others to focus on their overall wellness.

With the challenges we face during the global pandemic, taking action towards these issues is equally relevant as awareness. The Filipino youth and women should be encouraged to participate in creating action-oriented initiatives to showcase leadership and resiliency given that we are in a time of a global pandemic. Working together and planning to act on the challenges

of the pandemic would inspire the youth to keep on moving forward towards a progressive future.

Archers for UNICEF (AU) at De La Salle University, a non-profit student organization working in aid of UNICEF Philippines, aims to educate Filipino youth and women regarding social awareness and well-being in the new normal. EducACTION 2020: Driving Forward in the New Normal is a series of online events open to all participants. Join us on September 4 – September 12, 2020, as we educate ourselves regarding numerous issues around the globe, promote social awareness, ensure wellness despite lockdown restrictions and show our efforts in integrating a call-to-action to our own personal advocacies.
