Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes started his world tour across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, and Australia last March 2019. Known for hits like “Treat You Better” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” Mendes has successfully sold more than 1o million albums, 100 million singles, 11 billion song streams, and four billion YouTube views.
In 2017, the “Stitches” singer visited his Filipino fans as part of his “Illuminate Album Tour.” Two years after that, Mendes came back to the Philippines to serenade his fans with his charismatic voice at the Mall of Asia Arena last October 10, 2019.
The crowd couldn’t stop singing their hearts out when Mendes started performing some of his hit songs, including: “Lost In Japan”, “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”, “Nervous”, “Stitches”, “Señorita/I Know What You Did Last Summer”, “Mutual”, “Bad Reputation”, and “Never Be Alone”.
But the excitement heightened when Mendes transferred to a middle stage that was embellished with a huge rose. Much to fans’ delight, he also performed “Like To Be You”, “Ruin”, “When You’re Ready”, and “Life Of The Party”. He also belted out the songs “Particular Taste”, “Where Were You In The Morning”, “Fallin’ All In You”, “If I Can’t Have You”, “Mercy”, “Use Somebody”, “In My Blood”, and “Youth”.
The pop singer also imparted an inspiring message to the audience, “When I say the word youth, I’m not talking about the word of how young and old you are. I’m talking about the word that describes the feeling, the feeling of freedom and the feeling of happiness.”
He then went on to remind everyone’s power to create a better world, “Do you understand what I’m talking about Manila? I want to take it from my heart to say that every single person in this room right now, every single of you, you are the people who have the power to change the world for the better. It is up to us to stand right that no matter what happens our youth will not be taken away from us,” said Mendes.
