Girl in a jacket

Teatro Tomasino, the official university wide theater guild of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) for its second production of its 41st season, brings you, Agnoia.

Followed by the critical success of its recently concluded production, Singhap, the production ties up with the organization’s theme for this year, Akin Ako/ My I, which serves as a call for the active and deliberate reclamation of the self. Agnoia is an award-winning play (won a Don Carlos Palanca Award in 2002, 1st prize for the full-length play category) by seasoned and acclaimed playwright, Liza Magtoto— the genius behind plays like Caredivas, Rak of Aegis, A Game of Trolls. Based on Eli Rueda III short story “Horoscope,” the story revolves around eleven characters in an intricate web of relationships. It plays with the idea of entrusting one’s future to the cosmos which causes agnoia; ignorance caused by willful blindness, and explores themes about family, love, and fate, as the characters are shown in critical moments and on the verge of deciding on their next step— whether they take it in their hands or leave it to fate. Lost in a post-truth and a cacophonous world, it challenges the audience to break free from the bondages of ignorance, reclaim, return the once indelible I back to fore.

Teatro Tomasino’s staging is helmed by its alumnus, Lendro J. Enore, who has also directed “Sandaling Tagpo” from last academic year’s production, Dismissal.

The production is supported by Stratminds Events, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Vista Residences, The Varsitarian, UST – SOCC, DLSU Harlequin Theater Guild, UP Manila Dramatista, Kaya Natin, and #PANTAY Philippines.

The play will run from January 16 – 19, 2019 with time slots at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm. Admission costs PhP 170.00 with special discounts for bulk purchases. For inquiries and reservations please contact Elijah at 0926 822 6084 (Globe) or Therese at 0956 156 5118 (Globe) / 0938 948 1217 (Smart).
