Moments you might have missed at this year’s VMAs

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) surely gave us one treat after another.

Stars had gathered together last September 11 at the UBS Arena in New York to recognize some of this year’s best in music which was hosted by rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

Although the host sported various ensembles throughout the night, one outfit in particular was noteworthy as it paid tribute to Britney Spears’ iconic “I’m a Slave 4 U” performance at the VMAs back in 2001. From the green bra top to the live yellow snake, Megan has captured the look very well.

Rapper Flavor Flav took the stage with Olympian Jordan Chiles to present the first award of the night for Best Collaboration. While Taylor Swift and Post Malone took home the award, Chiles was not left empty handed as she was offered her very own bronze medal as a prize from the rapper.

Prior to this, the Olympian was stripped of her gymnastics bronze medal thus Flavor Flav took this opportunity to present her with a bronze clock necklace.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, the pop star took home the award for Best Collaboration for her single “Fortnight” with Post Malone. Aside from Best Collaboration, Swift took home 6 more awards which includes Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Song of the Summer.

Chappell Roan gave a fiery performance of “Good Luck, Babe!” while dancing with sword-wielding knights. During the red carpet, the singer teased the medieval theme of her performance with a cape, a sword, and an accompanying knight. The singer also took home the award for Best New Artist.

Sabrina Carpenter did a medley of “Please, Please, Please”, “Taste”, and “Espresso”. The performance not only featured an out-of-this-world set with an alien and astronauts, her transition from “Please, Please, Please” to “Taste” featured the spoken interlude from Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again” in the background. Her song “Espresso” took home the award for Song of the Year.

Katy Perry performed a mashup of her greatest hits which features songs including “ET”, “Dark Horse”, “Teenage Dream”, California Gurls”, “I Kissed a Girl”, and “Firework”, while being suspended midair, dancing on top of a piano, and wearing giant wings.

Towards the end of the show, rap trailblazer LL Cool J hit the stage to honor 40 years of hip-hop label Def Jam Recordings.

The rapper was joined by Flavor Flav and Chuck D of Public Enemy, for a medley of hits that includes “Going Back to Cali” and “Bring the Noise” that got the crowd up on their feet.
