Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo recently announced that she would be having a show here in the Philippines as one of her stops for the GUTS: World Tour, however, it appears that this announcement is reigniting the controversy surrounding the cost of tickets for another concert.
Her Silver Star Show will be happening this October 5 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. The forthcoming show’s tickets will all be offered as “Silver Star Tickets,” with a price of P1,500 each and maximum of four (4) purchases per buyer.
There is a guarantee that the seats will be close to one another, but the precise location won’t be disclosed until after September 28 when tickets are redeemed.
With this said announcement, one tweet made by one user on X (formerly Twitter) has caught attention online and somehow reignited the issue in relation to ticket prices which reads, “bini ticket rate defenders are floored right now.”

Social media users took up the discourse on social media to share their thoughts about the said tweet.
One user wrote, “i don’t like the comparison since one will be for a charity but god the starmu defenders saying the group needs the money. how sure are y’all na mapupunta atleast majority ng proceeds sa b*ni [how sure are y’all that the majority of the proceeds will go to b*ni]? di nga kayo sure [you’re not even sure] if they’ll get atleast 40% of the sales. don’t use that reason.”
Another user wrote, “Tbf Bini needs the money, Olivia on the other hand has already had multiple sold-out concert shows outside the country. This is more like Olivia giving back to her Filipino supporters.”
“walong babae na [eight women who] professionally trained sumayaw at kumanta [to dance and sing] for three years should not be compared to a child star na sumikat [who got famous]. y’all really love to yap and compare two diff individuals and their ‘deserved ticket prices..” a third user wrote.
More social media users expressed their thoughts replying to the said tweet.
Concert ticket prices are determined by various factors, and unless we are involved in the management or have insider knowledge, we may not understand the full costs involved.
However, is there truly a need for comparison in this context?
