Did Bright ‘ruin’ the success of the hit BL show ‘2gether’ in recent guest appearance?

After the success of the hit 2020 Thai series ‘2gether’ that introduced the Boys Love (BL) genre worldwide during the pandemic, Vachirawit Chiva-aree, known as Bright, who played ‘Sarawat,’ has spoken up about his struggles with fame and the character he portrayed that triggered some of the fans.

In his interview with Zach Sang Show, the actor mentioned that he struggled to keep up with the millions of followers that he gained from the show, which he described as ‘crazy,’ as he felt like every move he made was being controlled by his fans.

“Every day you have like one hundred thousand people who give a […] about you and try to judge everything and try to translate every gesture of yourself”, he said.

Bright also revealed that the fame he earned has its good and bad moments, but he is doing it to earn more money as he came from an impoverished family.

“For the first three years I want to earn more money for real…the most important thing for yourself is to take care of your family,” he added.

Social Media users took to social media to share their thoughts about his narrative, which sparked negative criticisms and labeled him as ‘ungrateful.’

One user wrote, “This is the answer I LITERALLY DIDNT EXPECT I mean alam ko naman lahat tayo nagwwork for money pero yung ipamukha mo talaga sa mga nagmahal at nagmamahal sayo na mukha kang pera [While I am aware that we need to work to earn money but you’re just showing to your fans that you’re greedy].”

comments to bright's statements

While Bright’s desire to showcase his ambition with diverse audiences, the pressure of fame led him to confusion about self-identity, mainly since his breakout role in “2gether” portrays a queer, which is different from who he is as a person.

“In my real life…I never fell in love with a guy…you know…but that TV series made me understand how it feels,” he said.

Admirers of the show lashed out their emotions about his statement, and most of the fans couldn’t contain their emotions as they felt like this was a closure to his character and the end of his pairing with Win Metawin, also known as BrightWin.

In spite of the criticism, Bright assured in the interview that playing a queer icon has taught him unconditional love and purity, for which he is thankful about.

“I love him…I mean he’s such a pure man…I think he’s a character who taught me about love with no condition. It’s something like that that’s really special,” he mentioned.

Even though his public persona had been significantly changed with his roles, he remained loyal to himself, enjoying the thrill of interacting with fans while balancing the demands of fame.
