‘Dear Satan’ movie labeled as ‘deceitful,’ sparking calls for ban over concerns for children

Mavx Productions, Inc. recently announced its newest movie for the upcoming Ber months, entitled ‘Dear Satan’, starring Paolo Contis and Sienna Stevens. While the production team is excited about the release, the movie’s title has sparked significant controversy, with many expressing concerns over its potential impact on children.

The title ‘Dear Satan’ triggered strong reactions on social media after the official poster was uploaded on Facebook. Many users argued that the title could be misunderstood by children, leading to harmful interpretations. One concerned user posted, “This is lies… calling you Influencers, TV personalities and movie directors, please be discernful and responsible when it comes to making titles and movies for children and family.”

A minister and church worker voiced concerns that portraying Satan in a seemingly positive light could encourage children to develop an affinity for him, contradicting biblical teachings. She emphasized that such portrayals are not only religiously and culturally insensitive but also undermine efforts to promote good morals and spirituality within the community. Citing John 10:10, she argued that Satan’s intent is to lead people astray and cause harm, making such depictions deeply concerning.

The comments section under the post echoed these worries. One user remarked, “Ano na nangyayari sa industriya ng sining, kung ano ano nlang ginagawa nila without even thinking kung makakasama ba or hindi.” Another commented, “Sobrang deceitful and negative ng context. It looks so true yet the greatest danger especially if unaware ang tao about who Satan really is. Discernment about this kind of movie and other influences is a MUST.”

Many parents and concerned individuals are calling for a boycott of the film, arguing that it is inappropriate for children and could send the wrong message. The general sentiment among some social media users is that the movie is deceptive and should not be supported.

However, some viewers see the film from a different perspective. In response to a reaction video by Living Hope Ministries, one user pointed out that the movie conveys a message of redemption, suggesting that “Ang movie na yan ang sinasabi kahit masama ka basta may love magiging mabuti ka at mananalo ang kabutihan.”

Despite these differing views, the controversy surrounding ‘Dear Satan’ continues to grow, with many parents firmly against its release due to concerns over its suitability for younger audiences.
