AlDub’s fandom rage return as they call for another boycott of ‘Eat Bulaga’

Almost 9 years have passed since the first duet of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards happened on ‘Eat Bulaga!’ and was broadcast on Philippine television on October 1, 2015. Their love team bloomed unexpectedly when Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) broke off her character upon seeing Alden in the noon-time show’s split-screen for the very first time. Sparks flew, viewers swooned, and their fanbase called “AlDub” was made known to the Philippine media.

The AlDub Nation was one of the powerful love team supporters that could compete with ‘KathNiel,’ ‘LizQuen,’ and ’JaDine.’ They made sure to see to that because ‘Kalyeserye’ became such a hit that on September 26, 2015, they reached the highest tweet record of over 25.6 million tweets and quote-retweets for ‘#ALDubEBforLOVE’ in just a day. They beat themselves in their own game when they surpassed their own record of 12.1 million tweets and quote-retweets with the hashtag ‘#ALDUBMostAwaitedDate’ on September 19, 2015. However, their love story was ‘allegedly’ put to an end when both artists announced their pursuit of solo projects, marking the end of the beloved ‘Kalyeserye’ and shattering the fantasies of so many AlDub fans in 2018.

ALDUB fans' rage resurfaces as they boycott 'Eat Bulaga' once more

2023, the AlDub nation made the hashtag ‘#BOYCOTTEBxGMA732’ trending as they sought the truth about the two personalities’ decisions. Maine cleared allegations against her upon announcing her relationship with Arjo Atayde back then.

Now, it seems some unresolved anger and contempt have resurfaced as AlDub Nation continue to “ask for the truth’ about Maine and Alden’s separation. Once more, AlDub fans from the Philippines and even overseas were able to dominate the X (formerly Twitter) scene by making the hashtag ‘#BOYCOTTEatBulaga1120’ trend on the said platform with over 14.5K tweets and quote retweets as of April 3, 4:24PM (PHT).

“No to lies,” “AlDub will be back,” “TRUTH ABOUT ALDUB” and “NO TO SOLO PROJECTS!” were some of the AlDub nation’s pleas. Many of them kept their solid faith in the revival of the love team that even in 2024 they maintained their activity by boycotting the noon time show. Will they ever get their ‘truth?’ That remains to be seen. For now, it seems that this fandom’s grudge is just deepening, with the love team being apart from each other every year.
