Popular Twitch streamer ‘Ninja’ shocks fans with cancer diagnosis at the age of 32

Popular Twitch Streamer Ninja candidly shared his medical diagnosis with his fans last March 27, 2024, on X (formerly Twitter).

Tyler Blevins, more known as Ninja on the streaming platform Twitch, was in “a bit of shock” to discover that he has a skin cancer as the star had just done an annual skin check-up with his wife, Jessica, and the dermatologists found out that there was a mole on the bottom of his foot. They wanted to remove it for precautionary measures. The results came back with Melanoma, but thankfully, it was caught on in its early stages.

Blevins underwent another examination as he had “another dark spot appear near it, so today they biopsied that and removed a larger area around the melanoma with the hopes that under the microscope they will see clear non-melanoma edges, and we will know we got it.” he said.

Ninja has been in the gaming scene for more than a decade and is one of the most followed streamers on Twitch, with a whopping 19 million followers. He mostly played Fortnite, and the game even had a “Ninja Skin” modeled after him so players could use it in the game. Ninja started playing video games in 2009 professionally by participating in competitions for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach. Later on, he played for a number of well-known gaming companies, such as Team Liquid, Renegades, and Cloud9.

He ended his statement by urging his fans to do the same as well, that they should proactively do medical check-ups: “I’m grateful to have hope in finding this early, but please take this as a PSA to get skin check-ups.” Fan and fellow streamers Daithi De Nogla, SypherPK, and Jake Lucky both wished Blevins well during this difficult time.
