DAY6 welcomes a brand-new era with their newest album, ‘FOUREVER’

Welcome back, our super band!

DAY6, a pop rock band from JYP Entertainment, finally made their return to the music scene with their 8th mini album, ‘FOUREVER’ on March 18, 2024. Along with the record’s release, DAY6 and JYP Entertainment also dropped the accompanying music video for the EP’s lead track, ‘Welcome to the Show.’

This is the band’s first-ever release since their hiatus due to the members’ military service from 2021 to 2023. ‘FOUREVER’ is also DAY6’s first release after their 7th EP, “The Book of Us: Negentropy – Chaos Swallowed up in Love,” which was released in April 2021 and was the last piece to the band’s “The Book of Us” series.

DAY6 has become beloved to the South Korean general public, with their songs “You Were Beautiful” from their 2017 digital single album ‘Every DAY6 February’ and ‘Time Of Our Life’ from their ‘The Book of Us’ record receiving lots of attention, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Korean, this phenomenon is called “yeokjuhaeng,” which means driving in reverse.

Now that the band has finally come back together after hiatus, they shared their sentiments about coming together and showing a more mature version of themselves.

In an interview held days prior to the band’s comeback, YoungK said, “So rather than making a big transformation in our music, we wanted to show you what we have through the kind of music that we used to make, but more matured and developed than before, and say, ‘Everyone, we are DAY6 and this is the kind of music that we make.”

‘FOUREVER’ consists of 7 tracks, with the lead title track being titled, ‘Welcome to the Show.’ All of DAY6 participated in writing and composing the songs in the album.

The EP’s title track, ‘Welcome to the Show,’  is an up-beat post-Brit pop rock song which “encapsulates the band’s signature poignant lyrics and acoustic band sound.” According to DAY6, the song is a “serenade to the people who stuck by us on this stage we call life.”

Sungjin, DAY6’s leader, also commented on the contrast between this title track and their previous ones. “While our previous title tracks had a melancholic tone, this time we opted for a more upbeat song as the title track. As we return from our hiatus, I hope it exudes a welcoming and exhilarating vibe.”

The music video for the title track stars actor Yoo Seung-ho, who was known for his dramas “The Emperor: Owner of the Mask” (2017) and “I’m Not a Robot” (2017), and actress Choi Hee-jin, who has appeared in dramas “Snowdrop” (2021), and “Strong Girl Nam-soon” (2023).

My Days were experiencing a myriad of emotions while listening to DAY6’s newest album, but one thing was sure—they were happy to hear their faves again after so long. DAY6 also expressed their own emotions towards their fans and thanked them over and over again for waiting for them.

Thank you for another beautiful album, DAY6! We can’t wait to jump and dance around in your concerts again real soon!
