Coffee shop draws line on customer etiquette after receiving negative review on page

A coffee shop in Pampanga, Suncoast Specialty Coffee, has addressed the issue regarding a review given by one of their customers to their page.

The shop posted a statement via Facebook that reads, “THIS POST IS FOR AWARENESS. LONG POST AHEAD. Last week, a group of students sought our permission to shoot for a school project at Suncoast, which we graciously accepted with the condition of making a purchase in return.”

“Despite the group being 10-15 pax, they bought just one drink, which we initially overlooked, assuming it would be a one-time occurrence. However, they stayed until closing only to purchase one drink for the entire group,” their statement continued.

On the group’s second visit, they asked permission once again to film in their shop but they did not purchase anything and occupied the seats of actual paying customers.

They were disappointed about the situation which left them feeling like they took advantage of their leniency.

Suncoast further expounded on what happened and wrote, “Their third visit they occupied three cabanas, purchasing only two orders of fries. Noticing that not all were part of the shoot, we kindly requested non-participants to vacate the seats if they were not making a purchase. Afterward, a complaint was posted on our page.”

To end their statement, the shop reminded everyone to be mindful of their behavior and wrote, “We understand that there is no greater bond right now than one shared over a cup of coffee but we can no longer tolerate such behavior. We cannot accommodate one person purchasing for an entire group of 10-15 and occupying seats meant for paying customers. This policy is enforced as we are a business establishment.”

Upon knowing the scenario, social media users took to the comments section to express what they felt about the said situation.

This is a reminder that we should be kind and not feel entitled to business owners and their employees as these business establishments have the responsibility to accommodate everyone and by doing this act, they will not be able to provide the best customer service.
