3 Filipinas will be debuting as K-pop idols following SBS’ ‘Universe Ticket’

Filipino talents never cease to amaze everyone—even abroad!

Just a week after 14-year-old Elisia Parmisano secured her idol debut in SBS’ idol trainee competition show “Universe Ticket,” the show’s finale episode showed that 2 more Filipinas are also set to debut alongside her.

Universe Ticket” was a survival competition show that featured a line-up of 82 contestants, all hailing from different countries—Philippines included. Following its conclusion, the show will be debuting 8 trainees in the global girl group named “UNIS.” Elisia was the first trainee announced to be debuting in the group, a historic feat unseen before in any other idol trainee competition.

And on January 17, 2024, the remaining 7 members were finally revealed after voting.

Here are the names of the trainees that will be debuting as “UNIS,” in order of ranking: Elisia (Rank 1, Philippines), Bang Yun-ha (Rank 2, South Korea), Nana (Rank 3, Japan), Gehlee Dangca (Rank 4, Philippines), Lim Seo-won (Rank 5, South Korea), Oh Yoon-a (Rank 6, South Korea), Kotoko (Rank 7, Japan), and Jin Hyeon-ju (Rank 8, South Korea/Philippines).

The ”Filo line”—Elisia Parmisano and Gehlee Dangca and South Korean-Filipino Jin Hyeon-ju (also known as Cignature’s Belle) have been fan favorites of the show, gaining a gradual following with each episode. Gehlee, in particular, had captured the hearts of many fans for being so talented (despite not having any formal training to be an idol) and having that “it girl material” seen in different episodes.

The votes received by Gehlee in the final episode were also astounding—gaining a whopping 2,464,526 votes. The votes she received were higher than even the center positions in any other idol trainee survival show.

Now that their debut is secured, Filipino K-pop fans are overwhelmed with how much Elisia, Gehlee, and Hyeon-ju will slay in just one group.

Congratulations, Elisia, Gehlee, and Hyeon-ju! And of course, to the members of UNIS! May your debut be successful and fruitful!
