Fans, social media users demand respect for Ronaldo Valdez after actor’s bodycam footage leaked online

Following the recent passing of the Philippines’ veteran actor, Ronaldo Valdez, social media users call out for respect as a sensitive video showing the retrieval of the actor’s dead body, went viral.

It can be remembered that Janno Gibbs, actor and son of the deceased, released an official statement confirming his father’s death and asked for privacy as they grieve in this heartbreaking circumstance.

Despite this, some still had the guts to spread the video on different social media platforms including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and even YouTube. The video saw the arrival of the Quezon City Police Department’s investigators. It can also be seen in the video that Ronaldo was lying on his chair, still holding his gun, with gunshot wounds in his temple.

Fans and social media users expressed their anger towards those people who let the video spread online. One emphasized to “STOP SPREADING THE VIDEO” and to report it immediately. Meanwhile, some ask for basic humanity and respect for the veteran actor’s death and family.

This Instagram post earned several comments pointing the blame to the QCPD and stating the police station’s rotten system. One even explained that taking a video of the scene is a basic protocol of the investigation. However, this should be preserved and used as evidence alone. Some also noticed how the QCPD easily disclosed private information about the actor’s death.

“Sila ang nagannounce ng pagkamatay ni Sir Ronaldo, sila nagsabi na suicide and rason they said that the reason is suicide), sila nagpost ng address sa New Manila, sila din kumuha at nagpakalat ng video. Ang daming batas na nilabag, [They announced Sir Ronaldo’s death, they were the ones who said that the reason was suicide, they posted the address in New Manila, and they were also the ones who took and spread the video. They violated several laws,” a fan stated.
