Following the successful solo debuts of BLACKPINK’s first three members, BLINKS are very much ready to see how Jisoo will dominate the music scene with her long-awaited solo release.
The good news is: BLACKPINK’s main visual is set to debut as a soloist this year. The not-so-good news is: She is not yet totally ready. Just last year, Jisoo admitted to having doubts about pursuing a solo music career in an interview with Rolling Stone.
In 2022, the K-Pop global star was invited to talk about fame, health, and a possible solo album. When asked about the rumor of releasing her solo single, she seems to have no concrete plans yet.
“I’m not sure how much I want to go solo yet. The music I listen to, the music I can do, and the music I want to do — what should I choose? I love songs with lots of instruments. I love different bands and rock music. What do people want from me? There’s chaos of conflicting questions. So I’m still tilting my head in confusion. I’m not sure what will happen with my solo plans this year,” Jisoo told Rolling Stone magazine.
Regardless, the BLACKPINK member surprised BLINKS with a confirmation in the first week of January that she is set to release her first album as a solo artist soon. The South Korean idol is the last member to have a solo career in the music realm. Jennie was the first BLACKPINK member to debut as a soloist with her album ‘SOLO’ in 2018, followed by Lisa with her solo release “LALISA” and Rosé with her single “R” in 2021.
Kim Ji-soo, famously known as Jisoo, is not just popular in South Korea for being a member of the best-selling K-Pop girl group under YG Entertainment. In addition to her music career, she landed her first leading role in the controversial 2022 K-drama “Snowdrop,” alongside Hallyu actor Jung Hae-in.
Take your time, Jisoo. We got you!
