Food and internet personality Salt Bae seems to have violated the FIFA rules after holding the World Cup trophy, and fans got salty and certainly not happy about it.
On December 18, Sunday, the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar concluded, with the Argentina team beating France, hailing them as the champions.
While people celebrated Argentina’s victory, Turkish butcher and chef Nusret Gökçe, famously known as a Salt Bae, joined in and posted a series of reels and photos on Instagram. The photos show the chef on the football field, holding the trophy with some members of the winning team.

A lot of FIFA fans found this offensive as Salt Bae blatantly violated the rules of FIFA, with some even calling his presence ‘irrelevant.’

The FIFA World Cup is among the most recognized trophies around the world and is considered one of sports’ “greatest symbols.” Weighing 13.61 pounds, the trophy is made up of 18-carat gold and is estimated to be worth around $20 million.
Many are no stranger to the rules of FIFA regarding the prestigious accolade. According to FIFA’s website, “the trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former FIFA World Cup winners and heads of state.”Obviously, Salt Bae doesn’t belong to any of the groups mentioned.
Although Bae is excited to celebrate with the victory of the World Cup winners, he should have known better what to do and how to respect the FIFA’s rules. Rules are rules, whoever we may be.
