BTS’ V and BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s leaked couple pics aren’t something to celebrate

K-Pop stan Twitter has been blowing up over the past week thanks to the dating rumors (yes, rumors because nothing has been confirmed yet) surrounding BTS’ V and BLACKPINK’s Jennie.

Leaks of the pair’s couple photos began on August 23, 2022, when Twitter user @/gurumiharibo posted a picture of Jennie taking a mirror selfie with V. The recent photo received much doubt and suspicion at first, much like the two idols’ first dating rumor where they were reportedly seen on Jeju Island. Though, when netizens couldn’t find possible individual photos that could’ve been used to edit the photo, that’s when this whole chaos started brewing.

Days went by and user @/gurumiharibo posted another photo of V and Jennie, this time in V’s own home. The two are seen in the photo wearing white shirts and loose-fitting pants at the entrance of V’s home, and fans and netizens were able to compare the photo to others sent by V himself.

After this photo was leaked, fans online started to believe that the idols’ dating rumors are true. ARMYs and BLINKs all began clamoring to the artists’ agencies to protect V and Jennie’s privacies as individuals, as this was an obvious case of a breach in their privacy. At the same time, other K-Pop stans were celebrating the rumors and congratulating the two for being a very attractive couple.

In connection to the photos that have already been leaked, the YouTube channel of former entertainment industry journalist Lee Jin-ho posted a video titled ‘I asked a hacker – Why the V <3 Jennie leak started’.

In the video, Lee Jin-ho interviewed a professional hacker and security expert who gave his two cents on the issue surrounding Jennie and V. First, the expert said that the photos were not at all edited, saying that after his own investigation he didn’t see any signs of editing or manipulation in the photos. “All photos are stored on mobile phones or cloud accounts, and if they are hacked, the photos will be leaked,” said the expert.

As of writing, YG Entertainment and HYBE Labels/BigHit have not released a statement regarding the issue surrounding their artists.

In terms of the leaked photos, honestly, it’s nothing to celebrate about. Yes, we can be happy about V and Jennie’s relationship because they’re humans too and they deserve to have relationships. However, for it to be revealed to the public this way with an obvious intent to threaten the artists and their reputation?

Totally not cool for user @/gurumiharibo to do. Everyone, and by everyone we mean everyone especially the two idols’ fans, should respect V and Jennie’s privacies.

They are human too and aren’t commodities for you to think that they’re yours to pass around and disrespect.
