Hit series ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ to be renewed for season two

Can’t get enough of the whale couple and the rest of the gang? Worry not, as Extraordinary Attorney Woo might be getting a season 2.

On August 17, CEO of ASTORY Lee Sang Baek expressed his intent to produce a second season sometime in 2024, retaining the same or if not all, 90% of the cast.

“Thanks to the support of many people, we will produce Season 2 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The goal is to air Season 2 in 2024. It is not easy to coordinate the schedules of the cast and production team, so we will have to go through a lot of discussion,” he said in a statement.

“As long as there are no unexpected changes, the goal is to maintain more than 90 percent of the same members as now. For this reason, it will take a considerable amount of time to coordinate, but the plan to produce Season 2 has not changed,” he continued.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo has become one of the most popular K-dramas of 2022. Its ratings skyrocketed week by week and have beat records in K-drama history. It claimed the 7th highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history, with its final episode having recorded 17.5% nationwide ratings. It also topped Netflix’s latest weekly viewership chart of non-English TV shows for several weeks since its release. Moreover, it debuted at #8 on the streaming service’s list of all-time most popular non-English series last week with 289 million hours viewed in its first 28 days. It didn’t stop there as the show climbed up at #6 with 341.5 million hours.

The legal drama series aired its first episode on June 29 and ended on August 18. It follows Attorney Woo Young Woo, the first ever lawyer in South Korea with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). She graduated and has a 164 IQ score. Although she lacks social skills, she embarked on a new journey as she was hired at Hanbada law firm and later on found friends and a lover in Kang Tae Oh’s character.

The viewers got hooked with the exciting story plot and incredible performance of the cast, especially the titular character played by Park Eun Bin.

Of course, fans couldn’t help but rejoice after hearing the announcement. Some are even already anticipating what’s to come.

Indeed, the series ended on a good note. Some viewers are already content with how it turned out, but it cannot be denied that a lot are still hoping to see more of the whale couple and the rest of the cast.

There’s no official release date yet as of writing, but fans can expect more details to be announced in the coming months.

Update: Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 has been confirmed with the same cast, though due to the cast’s busy schedules, the second season might not be airing next year. The K-drama is expected to air season 2 in 2024.
