‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ teaser shows Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor

Marvel fans, you don’t have to wait longer for the god of thunder because the first teaser trailer of Thor: Love and Thunder has finally arrived.

On April 18, Marvel shared the teaser trailer of Thor: Love and Thunder. The teaser begins with Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) reflecting on the aftermath from the events of Avengers: Endgame. The god of thunder can be also seen putting down his Stormbreaker, saying: “These hands were once used for battle, now they’re but humble tools for peace. Now I need to figure out exactly who I am.”

Backed by Guns N Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” the 90-second clip also follows Thor’s weight-loss journey and leaves the Guardians of the Galaxy behind to “choose his own path and live in the moment” as his “superhero-ing days are over.”

The teaser also gives the first glimpse of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) ruling the New Asgard and Greek god Zeus (Russel Crowe) wielding a lightning bolt.

As if things couldn’t get better, the trailer offers the first look on Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) as The Mighty Thor, where she can be seen wielding Thor’s Mjölnir.

Following the much-anticipated trailer of Thor: Love and Thunder, fans were quick to express their excitement on Twitter, particularly to Portman’s new role as The Mighty Thor.

Portman, who appeared in Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013), reprises her role as Foster, who then becomes the powerful version of the god of thunder. Apart from Portman, Hemsworth and Thompson are also back as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively.

The other returning cast members also include Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-lord, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri, and Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster.

In addition to many of the cast reprising their respective roles, Thor: Love and Thunder will also introduce new faces, namely Crowe as Zeus, and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, the film’s villain.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the fourth film in the Thor series. The film is directed by Taika Waititi, who also helmed Thor: Ragnarok, and produced by Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige and film producer Brad Winderbaum.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere in theaters on July 8, 2022.
