‘Boys Over Flowers’ star Kim Hyun-joong to marry non-showbiz partner

Finally!

According to a report from Soompi, during his ‘What I Want to Say’ concert last February 27, singer-actor Kim Hyun-joong announced in front of his fans that he is finally getting married to his non-celebrity partner.

“I’m not sure how to say this. I have decided to spend the rest of my life with someone who has stayed by my side through my most difficult and exhausting time,” Kim emotionally stated in his solo online/offline concert.

“When I reflect on the life I’ve lived until now, I have received so much interest and love. I am sincerely grateful to all you fans for staying quietly by my side during my darkest and most difficult days. Since we can meet in person and talk like this, I think today will be very meaningful. It was your love and support during my darkest days that I was able to take courage and embark on the second half of my life. I felt I would regret it all my life if I only expressed myself through words, considering the infinite love and support I’ve received from fans, so I wanted to take this opportunity at this concert to share this news,” the Boys Over Flowers star added.

The singer-actor’s dedicated fans poured their unwavering support towards the star’s unexpected marriage news on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Kim’s agency, Henecia, announced that the news about the couple’s wedding is confirmed but they will not be holding a formal ceremony due to the pandemic.

“Due to the difficulties of the current situation [COVID-19], the couple has decided against holding a ceremony. Since his future spouse is not a celebrity, we have been cautious in releasing the news, so we ask for people’s understanding and also that people refrain from excessive speculation,” the singer-actor’s agency stated.

Although Kim has been on a long break from the bustling world of the entertainment industry since 2014, he is currently making his way back to the scene after he won the legal battle against his ex-girlfriend in 2020.

The Korean star’s most recent work was in the 2021 psychological thriller indie film Indian Pink, which was directed by Kim Si Woo. The film garnered impressive reviews from critics at an international film festival, lauding Kim’s intrepid performance in it.

Kim Hyun-joong is best known for his roles in Korean hit dramas Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss.
