The Used celebrates 15th year anniversary with live album and North American tour

Fifteen years ago, four teenagers from Orem, Utah decided to form a band that would help shape the alternative rock scene. Known for their high energy shows, gut-wrenching lyrics, and emotionally-charged melodies that seamlessly blend pop sensibilities with a hard rock edge, The Used took the world by storm.

Comprised of Bert McCracken (vocals), Jeph Howard (bass), Dan Whitesides (drums), and Justin Shekoski (guitar), The Used released a total of six studio albums and two EPs that has made a lasting impression in the alt-rock scene and garnered them legions of fans worldwide.

In 2014, The Used’s released their latest LP Imaginary Enemy which opened the stage for conversation among fans and critics by putting the band’s political frustrations and commitment to social change at the forefront. You can get it on iTunes if you haven’t purchased it yet.

Today, The Used is stronger than ever and is poised to make 2016 their year with the highly-anticipated Live and Acoustic at The Palace.

Performed with a 4-piece string quartet, a harpist, a piano player, a percussionist, and a 3-piece gospel choir, Live and Acoustic by The Palace is a recording of the band’s intimate unplugged storyteller performance at The Palace Theater in Los Angeles last October 2015.

The Used worked with famed violinist and musical arranger, Hiro Goto, on the strings and harp to reimagine the tracks on Live and Acoustic at The Palace. Goto’s involvement gave the band’s post-hardcore, guitar-driven sound an entirely different emotional resonance, bringing out musical dimensions the band never saw before.

“The whole time we were making this I couldn’t believe it was happening. I’m so proud of this band for working hard to pull this off and at the same time I feel like this is what we deserve because we worked so hard to get here that it felt like a victory lap in a lot of ways,” said McCracken.

Set to be released on April 1, 2016, you can pre-order Live and Acoustic at The Palace HERE.

The Used will be going on a North American tour this spring together with The New Regime in celebration of their 15th year together. The band will be playing two shows per city, performing the entire Self-Titled and In Love and Death catalog every single night.
