‘GG IS BACK’ trends with teasers of Oh!GG for SMCU Online Concert

Finally, after 3 years: Girls’ Generation – Oh!GG is having group activities again.

The 5-member sub-unit of South Korean girl group Girls’ Generation was announced to be joining the line-up of SMTOWN’s online concert, “SMTOWN Live 2022: SMCU Express @ KWANGYA” last December 10, 2021. The free online concert will be streamed in a variety of platforms, such as YouTube, Beyond LIVE, LG’s U+ IDOL LIVE, among others on January 1, 2022.

SM Entertainment previously held a free online live concert last January 1, 2021, titled “SMTOWN LIVE ‘Culture Humanity’”, and was broadcasted in a wide range of social media platforms and received 35.83 million viewers from 186 countries. The concert became the highest streamed concert in South Korea, as well as SM Entertainment’s most successful concert tour.

The online concert will feature artists from SM Entertainment gathering in the fictional world of KWANGYA and will be performing at the SMCU Express Station (SMCU meaning SM Culture Universe) — Oh!GG included.

Since December 15, 2021, SM Entertainment has been posting the teaser images of their artist line-up for the concert at 12 M.N. KST, beginning with H.O.T.’s Kangta, BOA, and TVXQ. On December 16, 2021, Oh!GG and SHINee’s teaser visuals were posted, and boy, how all SONEs reacted to each Girls’ Generation member’s images were something else.

To celebrate Oh!GG’s return to group activities, SONEs trended the hashtags “SNSDOH_GGTeaser”, “GG4EVA” and “GG IS BACK” on social media.

Everyone, pack your bags. We’re seriously going to KWANGYA by train now. And obviously, we’re all there to see Oh!GG back as idols after their solo ventures.
