Smooth like ‘Butter’: BTS breaks Olivia Rodrigo’s record as No. 1 hit

The song “Butter” by BTS has stayed strong on charts during the ranking battle and the single just won’t allow itself to be swayed by international heavyweights.

The ARMY is probably lighting up like a ‘dynamite’ right now to celebrate them in spirit. With their smashing records, the South Korean band continues to control the Billboard charts and has now withheld the peak on the 2021 charts for the ninth week with their hit song “Butter”.

And yes, this means that the South Korean superstars have overtaken the previous Hot 100 record set by International singer Olivia Rodrigo with “Drivers License” in January-March earlier this year. This ‘euphoria’ of success is a pride for their country, indeed.

New release “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow gave “Butter” some serious competition for the top reach on the Hot 100 this time around. The track, which will be on the former’s upcoming debut album, gained second spot – unable to fly over the South Korean powerhouses – at least just as of the current time.

The Bangtan Boys’ winning spot was described as the “longest running” No. 1 hit since Roddy Ricch‘s “The Box” which went through a fierce contest in an eleven-week run in United States. It’s a minus two weeks for BTS and that’s a real bang!

The song has also charted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Global rankings (excluding the US streams). It also earned the 8th position in the Global 200 records. Similarly, ‘Permission to Dance’ reached the 3rd and 6th positions on the same charts.

Lastly, we know the drill. The K-pop team may be going smooth like butter for now, but it’s clearly no end for BTS to share hope and deliver powerful lyricism and diverse musicality.
