Fans of Ben&Ben and DAY6 gush over their faves’ interactions on IG

Mydays and Liwanags were absolutely delighted to see their favorite artists connect and surprise their fans on Instagram live last May 28, 2021.

Ben&Ben and DAY6’s YoungK had recently collaborated for a reimagined version of the former’s song, “Leaves”, which had caught their fans off guard and stunned from the sudden announcement (the author included). Some of the fans’ reactions ranged from happiness over the sudden partnership, to jokes about how the artists would hurt their feelings even more (from the songs, of course).

To promote their collaboration, the two artists held an Instagram live which was warmly received by their fans. During their live, Ben&Ben and YoungK were enthusiastic about how their collaboration came into light. During his own IG live in 2020, YoungK had read a comment that asked him if he knew any OPM songs, to which he said he didn’t and asked his Filipino Mydays for some suggestions. One of the suggestions that popped up was “Leaves” by Ben&Ben, and soon after, YoungK mentioned the song and said it was amazing.

Ben&Ben reacted to it positively when they heard about his comment, thanking the Korean artist and expressed their want for a possible collaboration. In another livestream, YoungK said he was “down” for a collaboration to his fans. And lo and behold, the “Leaves (feat. YoungK)” was born.

Ben&Ben revealed during the Instagram live that collaborating and interacting with an artist they really loved (YoungK) felt like a “fever dream”, and to be honest, it feels the same way for the fans too! The two artists even sang a part of their song live, much to the delight of their fans and to those newly introduced to either one of them.

In their announcement of the remake of the song, Ben&Ben stated that they wanted to convey the message that “all will be alright in time”; a message of hope, strength, and resilience in a troubling times. With their collaboration with YoungK from DAY6, their message was surely conveyed in the most comforting of ways – for fans and non-fans alike.

Ben&Ben is a nine-piece folk pop/pop rock band from the Philippines, known for their songs “Ride Home”, “Maybe the Night”, “Pagtingin”, “Lifetime”, and “Kathang Isip”. They are one of the Philippines’ top acts and the country’s most streamed artist on Spotify.

YoungK is a bassist, rapper, and vocalist for the South Korean band DAY6, managed by JYP Entertainment and Studio J. The band recently released their last album for “The Book of Us” series, named “The Book of Us: Negentropy” with the single “You Make Me”. YoungK has also collaborated with numerous artists, such as X Lovers, STAMP, Baek A-yeon, and Jamie. He has also been releasing song covers on DAY6’s YouTube channel, credited as “YOUNG ONE”.
