The Book Stop Project reopened on February 17 in Intramuros, Manila this year after its temporary closure. It is now opening its doors for visitors as a permanent attraction while still following the basic health and safety protocols as a precaution. Before it found its home in front of the Manila Cathedral, it was first located in Ayala Triangle in Makati back in 2016. It had a another quick run in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The Book Stop Project is a small installation with shelves filled with second-hand books, providing free access for the public to read and even bring home. Their goal is to attract more people to read, and to “promote the sharing of ideas, through the help of redistributing more books.”
According to their Facebook page, it won two international awards — the Architizer Award in New York, and was shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival in Berlin. Last 2018, the Book Stop Project was nominated in the Haligi ng Dangal Awards.
