The one where Jennifer Anniston staged that FRIENDS reunion at the Emmys

The 72nd Emmy Awards was full of surprises, including the mini reunion of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. starring Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), and Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay)

Aniston, who was nominated in the lead actress drama category for The Morning Show, joined Emmy host Jimmy Kimmel through a video call.

Cox, who was Jennifer’s roommate and best friend in the popular sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S, said during the video call, “We live together.” Jimmy then asked, “You do?” Jennifer replied, “We’ve been roommates since 1994, Jimmy.” as Kudrow also joined.

Consider the Emmy’s Friends reunion a teaser for the full cast reunion coming soon. HBO Max is bound to release an unscripted special featuring all the stars of the show. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the special has been delayed.

Aniston spoke about the status of the special last August on ELLE, explaining that while it has been postponed again because COVID-19, it will be worth the wait.

“It’s going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been, So I choose to see it as the glass is half-full that it got postponed. Look, we’re not going anywhere. You’re never going to get rid of Friends, sorry. You’re stuck with us for life guys,” she said.

“Unfortunately it’s very sad that we had to move it again,” but that she is looking forward to filming it when it’s safe to do so. “It was, ‘How do we do this with live audiences?’ This is not a safe time. Period. That’s the bottom line. It’s not a safe time to do it,” she added.
