Car Seat Headrest today reveal dreamy nigh-on 8-minute epic ‘There Must Be More Than Blood’, ahead of the release of their much anticipated new album Making A Door Less Open on May 1st. The release is accompanied by a special acoustic performance of the song by front man Will Toledo in character as ‘Trait’. Watch HERE. The new album is out May 1 on Matador Records.
In its mesmeric slow burn, album centerpiece ‘There Must Be More Than Blood’ presents another facet of the broad palette found on MADLO, with Toledo placing emphasis on the individual songs, each with its own “special energy”.
‘There Must Be More Than Blood’ follows recent singles “Hollywood”, described by Stereogum as “great — like, really, really great. It’s got a heavy groove, a piercing alt-rock guitar riff, and a throat-shredding hook I can’t wait to sing along with whenever live music returns”, ‘Martin’, currently on the BBC 6 Music playlist and receiving plays from Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1, and ‘Can’t Cool Me Down’ which has surpassed 1.5 million streams on Spotify.

Created over the course of four years, it is the result of a fruitful “collaboration” between Car Seat Headrest, led by Will Toledo, and 1 Trait Danger, a CSH electronic side project consisting of drummer Andrew Katz and Toledo’s alternate persona, Trait.
