Anyone who has ever watched movies like This Means War, Warrior, or Venom can agree that Tom Hardy is one of Hollywood’s most handsome and charismatic actors. So, it’s not surprising that many UK-based viewers were mesmerized by the actor’s bedtime reading stint at BBC’s CBeebies channel.
In fact, on the day the free-to-air television channel released Hardy’s episode, many adults took to Twitter to share their enthusiasm about watching the actor read a bedtime story to their kids (and of course, to them).
One online user sarcastically wrote, “I watched Tom Hardy on CBeebies bedtime stories with the volume full blast so my unborn daughter could listen. The things I do for her.🙈😂😍”. While another mom shared, “Forgot to record Tom Hardy Cbeebies story (for the boys!)”.
With the popularity of Hardy’s episode, private tutoring firm Exam Papers Plus decided to make their own version of it available for the public. But instead of the actor tutoring your kids, the company hired a lookalike–named Dave–to do the job.
According to the Exam Paper Plus’s website, “the new service aims to encourage more reading within schools and encourages parents to pick up a book and take part in story-time.” Given this, the company hopes that this venture not only results in an increase in kids who are passionate about reading but will also allow parents to actively take part in their children’s learning processes.
The website also states that this new Book Buddy service includes the following topics: “1-hour reading time for schools in the UK, 1-2-1 reading learning sessions, and a lesson on popular English slang (which includes cockney rhyming).”
This project will run through the month of March and will cost £80 (approximately 5,223 PHP) per hour on one-on-one tutorial sessions and at least £100 (around 6,528 PHP) for the group reading service.
Moreover, those who book Dave for reading sessions can even make special requests on his attire–which means you can actually request Dave to dress up like Bane while he reads your favorite fairy tale.
Even though the service is not yet available, Director at Exampapersplus.co.uk Faisal Nasim said the company has already received numerous requests from parents and teachers alike.
“We have received an influx of requests for lookalike tutors from Harry Potter to Tom Hardy to make learning fun again so last year we launched School of Magic which was hugely popular amongst the wizarding fans and now launch the Tom Hardy reading service and already seen huge demand,” Nasim wrote.
Although this service is geared towards kids, we’re pretty sure that a number of parents and educators will be (more than) eager to participate in these learning sessions.
