If there’s one thing to describe a Kolohe Kai show, it’s that it’ll be a night full of life, music, and vibes. And true enough, this was what his Filipino fans experienced after he took the stage during his sold-out show at Samsung Hall, SM Aura, BGC on February 1, 2025.
Last Saturday, excited concertgoers were immediately treated to a fun and infectious performance by the 5-piece reggae band Chocolate Factory, who served as the show’s opening act.
Armed with their undeniable charisma and stage presence, Chocolate Factory performed some of their greatest hits, including “Kung Ika’y Akin,” a cover of Bob Marley’s “One Day,” and “Tonight,” their most recent track with singer-songwriter JRoa.
Their performance set the perfect mood for the entire show as they raised the crowd’s energy through the roof because as soon as Kolohe Kai stepped onto the stage, everyone erupted to cheers, filling up the venue with vibrant energy and excitement.
During the show, Kolohe Kai, whose real name is Roman De Peralta, expressed his gratitude to their Filipino fans for welcoming him and the rest of the band, which made them feel like they were home. As a treat for everyone’s support throughout the decades, Kolohe Kai promised the crowd an unforgettable night of music.
True to his words, Kolohe Kai and his band brought the island vibe to the venue, making the crowd jam to the rhythm of their infectious anthems. The show also featured a selection of his greatest hits, as well as new songs.
Among the tracks he played were “He’e Roa,” “Kiss That I Never Had,” “First True Love,” “Genuine Love,” “Round and Around,” “Addicted to Life,” “Paradise,” and “Don’t Stop the Rhythm.”
Kolohe Kai also performed a reggae cover of “Isn’t She Lovely?” and “All My Life,” to which a couple got engaged during the performance of the latter song.
As the night came to a close, the Hawaiian artist brought out the big guns and performed their best hits that captured the attention and hearts of many of their listeners, including “Heartstrings,” “Dream Girl,” “Ehu Girl,” and “Cool Down.”
As the final notes of “Cool Down” echoed through the arena, his fans were left with memories of an unforgettable night. The same can be said for Kolohe Kai as he promised to come back some time next year for another celebration of music and the unbreakable connection shared between him and the fans.
Kolohe Kai’s Live in Manila was presented by the Insignia Presents and was part of the “Insignia Concert” series.
