Selena Gomez’s engagement ring holds a sweet, hidden reference to one of her iconic songs

The music producer shared a video on Instagram last December 14, with the couple clinking their champagne glasses together. Selena Gomez had a huge smile on her face while toasting with her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, who had proposed on December 11.

Blanco soundtracked their champagne toast with the singer’s 2015 song “Good for You,” specifically with the part where she sings, “I’m on my marquise diamonds.” A huge marquise diamond set on an eternity band was a fitting way for Blanco to pop the question to Gomez.

The striking design of the ring goes beyond its aesthetics, carrying a deeper, more personal meaning. The marquise-cut diamond isn’t just a fashion statement; it connects to Gomez’s 2015 collaboration with A$AP Rocky, ‘Good for You.’ In the song, she sings, ‘I’m in my marquise diamonds. I’m a marquise diamond. Could even make that Tiffany jealous.’” The ring is estimated to be around six carats, with a value of approximately $225,000 (approximately Php 13 million).

The “Only Murders in the Building” actress shared the big news to Instagram, including a series of photos that also has a photo of her ring captioning it with “forever begins now.”

People took to social media to share their thoughts about the couple’s engagement.

Gomez and Blanco began dating in December 2023, with the singer liking photos of an Instagram fan account signaling their connection. After working together on the 2019 song “I Can’t Get Enought” with Tainy and J Balvin, they had previously known one another for years.

Back in January, the pair made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmys.

“I guess this is the safest I’ve ever felt in one,” she stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I see a future with this person. And when you put a little bit out there, people are not as hungry to hunt you down.”

The music producer, who previously stressed that the future chapters of his life would contain wedding bells and little ones, feels the same way.

He told Howard Stern, “When I do look at her, I’m always like, ‘I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.’”

“That’s the next goal to the checkbox, “ he added. “I have a ton of godkids, I’ve got a ton of nephews. I love being around kids.”
