Skin care brand expresses support for Maris Racal amidst controversy, receives divided opinions

Some social media users are criticizing a skincare brand for showing support to ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ star Maris Racal amid her recent controversy.

The skincare brand posted an Instagram story on December 9, which ignited different opinions of X (formerly known as Twitter) users

“To err is human, to forgive is divine, keep glowing,” the Instagram story said.

Various X users shared their take on the brand’s post and sparked a debate on whether the post should’ve been made or not.

Another wrote, “Welcome to Philippines nga naman.”

Some social media users, however, pointed out that male celebrities who had cheating issues still prevailed with brands despite their controversies but were not scrutinized as much as Racal.

“So no one had a problem when James Reid was still out here collabing [with] brands and getting hype for his old songs, or when Daniel Padilla got a whole billboard after cheating [with] kath, but now all of a sudden it’s a problem,” a social media user said.

Another social media user said, “What she did was wrong but yall never give this much energy to the horrible men in the industry kaya atp idrgaf.”

“There’s many serious offenders in the entertainment industry but you put all of your energy into hating a cheater 😭 You’re not the one who got cheated on. Imagine if you give the same energy to men who are pedophiles, groomers, and rapists in the industry,” a third X user said.

Some social media users said that posts hating Racal on this level exhibit misogyny as it only happened to her, but men in the industry still get flooded with endorsement even after controversies.

It can be recalled that Racal was caught in a cheating controversy with her on-screen partner, Anthony Jennings after the latter’s ex-partner posted screenshots of their conversation. Days after, a makeup brand terminated their contract with Racal.
