Don Omar, a popular reggaeton singer, disclosed on Instagram on Monday that he has cancer. The post included a picture of him seemingly wearing a hospital bracelet.
Omar, a Puerto Rican, wrote in Spanish that he will be cancer-free “tomorrow” in the caption of the photo. Nothing more was known about his diagnosis or course of treatment.
He wrote, “Good intentions are well received,” the translation said. “See you all soon.”

William Omar Landrón Rivera, better known by his stage name “Omar,” became well-known in the early 2000s. Since 2003, he has put out eight studio albums and, of the 13 nominations for Latin Grammys, has won two of them.
In addition, despite having worked and performed together on tours in their early careers, he and fellow singer Daddy Yankee had a protracted and well-known feud for many years. According to Billboard, the two men claimed to have buried the hatchet in separate Instagram posts from December.
“I wish you the best for you and your family,” Omar wrote in a message. “I appreciate your discipline and competitiveness, but I’m even more grateful for what you did for our music.
The “Pobre Diabla” singer embarked on a 20-date tour in the spring, concluding at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The singer’s highly anticipated return was marked by his 2023 album Forever King. The Boricua hitmaker extended the run of the CMN-produced tour by eighteen dates in the middle of the tour.
