Red Velvet’s 10th anniversary mini album slightly disappoints fans, lack of promotions cited

Mark your calendars, ReVeluvs! Red Velvet’s newest EP will drop on June 24, 2024!

Red Velvet will be returning for their 10th anniversary with a new EP titled “Cosmic,” on June 24, 2024. “Cosmic” will be their first record after seven months since the release of their 3rd studio album, “Chill Kill” last November 2023.

“Cosmic” will have 6 tracks with varying genres and will be the beginning of “a string of various events” leading up to Red Velvet’s 10th debut anniversary, as mentioned by SM Entertainment in an announcement.

South Korean media outlets have dubbed Red Velvet as K-Pop’s unbeatable “Summer Queens” following their releases of “Red Flavor,” “Power Up,” and “Umpah Umpah.” This time, according to SM Entertainment, Red Velvet’s newest EP will be headed by “a completely new style of summer music.”

On June 11, 2024 at 12 M.N. KST, Red Velvet dropped their schedule poster, outlining their activities in the days prior to their comeback on June 24, 2024, up until their fancon tour “HAPPINESS: My Dear, ReVeluv” on August 3 to 4, 2024.

The schedule poster included a sneak peek of Red Velvet’s new concept, which seems to be a nod to their debut concept (and many other stage outfits) with the sailor outfits. This was proven to be true later on in the day, when a billboard in Jakarta featured Red Velvet in a never before-seen photo.

Or a spoiler, you might say.

At first, Red Velvet’s comeback was slightly overshadowed by the fact that the news was used to cover up another SM Entertainment artists’ scandal (you know which one). Apart from that, Red Velvet’s Joy also spoke up on their Bubble messages about their lack of promotions, as well as how their 10th anniversary comeback is being treated “lightly.”

Then, when the news came out, of course all ReVeluvs were rejoicing because there’s finally a date for Red Velvet’s upcoming comeback! A new Red Velvet era and concept that’s one for the books!

Along with that feeling of happiness, comes that feeling of disappointment among fans because of (once again) the bare minimum treatment that SM Entertainment is giving a senior girl group.

When it comes to 10th year debut anniversaries, the standard is to have a full-length or special album, a pre-release track (or two), a lot of activities in store, etc. But here, we have Red Velvet with the barest minimum, as if they were a nugu girl group.

Center 3, are you actually serious?

Anyway, we’re definitely all seated for June 24th!
