K-pop group ‘Weki Meki’ to disband following the release of single ‘CoinciDestiny’

Weki Meki will disband after seven years of being together as a group.

Fantagio announced on June 7 that the girl group would split up after collaborating on one last song the following week.

On June 12 at 6 p.m., Weki Meki will release the digital single “CoinciDestiny,” bringing their seven-year journey together to a bittersweet close.

The title “CoinciDestiny” is a fusion of “coincide” and “destiny,” symbolizing that while the members met by chance, their union and connection with fans were destined. This song serves as their ultimate farewell to their supporters.

After spending seven years together, Weki Meki is set to part ways. Fantagio made the announcement on June 7, stating that the girl group would disband following the release of their final single together next week. Titled “CoinciDestiny,” the digital single will be released on June 12 at 6 p.m. KST, marking the poignant conclusion to their collective journey spanning seven years.

Weki Meki debuted in August 2017 and has not released a new album since their last comeback in November 2021.

Comprised of eight members—Suyeon, Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy—the group made their debut with the extended playlist “Weme” on August 8, 2017, featuring the lead single “I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend.”

Their most recent album, “I Am Me,” was released in November 2021, accompanied by the lead track “Siesta.” The upcoming comeback with “CoinciDestiny” marks their first release since then.

Known for their vibrant and refreshing concepts, Weki Meki is celebrated for their catchy tunes that captivate listeners. Some of their popular hits include “Picky Picky,” “COOL,” and “Crush.”
