Social media influencer Ling Cheng has now spoken up about her experience with regards to the biggest scandal in the K-pop industry, the “Burning Sun.”
She recalled her experience through a lengthy post on Threads and wrote, “The BBC revealed the inside story of the ‘Burning Sun incident’ through a documentary. I kept thinking about my experience, and it sent a chill down my spine the whole time I was watching it. In 2018, an acquaintance’s ex-boyfriend was singer Seungri’s Hong Kong business partner, so I visited Burning Sun. Seungri was the DJ that night, and the club was crowded with people.”

She elaborated on the incident further stating that the people in the club were taking drugs during that time. When she asked why the police did not investigate the place, she was told, “The police turn a blind eye to clubs like this.”
Ling Cheng mentioned that after drinking two glasses of champagne, she started to get drunk unusually and eventually lost consciousness after some time. “I remember wondering if there were drugs in that drink,” she continued.
Her wallet ended up being stolen after the said incident. Luckily, her friends were able to help her leave the club immediately and reported the incident to the police.
She ended her post and wrote, “Fortunately, in the end, I only lost my belongings… I hope my personal experience can help caution others. Many of my friends from Hong Kong come to Korea and ask me what nightclubs I would recommend. But honestly, Gangnam nightclubs are still very dangerous. I definitely don’t recommend going to a club if you’re with a few girls.”
The “Burning Sun: Exposing the Secret of K-pop Chat Groups” was recently released on the BBC World Service YouTube channel that recalls the controversial “Burning Sun Gate” scandal that occurred back in 2019.
