Candy shop in Atlanta accidentally serves shots of rum to kids

American restaurant Sugar Factory’s branch in Atlanta, Georgia, accidentally served an alcoholic beverage to young kids during an 11-year-old’s birthday celebration.

Souljah Perdue, the mother of the celebrant, said that the restaurant gave them complimentary drinks to celebrate her daughter’s birthday – whereas they thought it will be alcoholic beverages for the adult guests and juice for the kids.

However, the kids’ reaction toward the “juice” says otherwise.

“I start looking around. I’m looking at my daughter and I’m seeing the other kids and they’re making these faces,” Perdue told WSBTV. “‘I think it has liquor in it.’ I told the manager what happened and he’s looking disturbed, he’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I told them non-alcoholic shots.”

“I couldn’t believe it. It’s something I have never heard of. I was really like how could they make this mistake?” she said.

A video recording by Perdue while talking to the manager also hear an employee admitting that there was liquor in the shots given to the kids.

“There was Coconut Rum and Pineapple Juice. It’s a .5 of Coconut rum. I accept full responsibility. Nothing should have come out of my bar that I’m aware of. And it should have not been made,” the employee explained.

Perdue has filed an incident report, whereas the restaurant told her that she would hear from their corporate office about the incident – but hasn’t heard from them since.

“They’re not answering no calls. They’re like nothing happened,” she said.
