TWICE’s Jihyo reaches her peak in her solo debut with her EP, ‘Zone’

Jihyo blew away ONCEs real good with this alone, tbh.

On August 18, 2023, at 1 P.M. KST, TWICE’s leader Jihyo made her solo debut with her EP, ‘Zone,’ releasing it on all platforms along with the music video for the title track, ‘Killin’ Me Good.’  She is the 2nd member of TWICE to make her solo debut, a year and 2 months after Nayeon with her EP, ‘Im Nayeon.’

‘Zone’ is an album released in one of TWICE’s busiest years as a group. Following their contract renewals in July 2022, TWICE has since released two Korean-language EPs, and a Japanese-language single, and is currently holding their “Ready To Be” World Tour, with their next stop at Singapore with a 2-day concert on September 2-3, 2023.

TWICE debuted their first sub-unit, MiSaMo, in July 2023 with their EP, ‘Masterpiece’ and their title track, ‘Do Not Touch.’ Jihyo’s official debut as a solo artist is the next of many, with TWICE’s Chaeyoung hinting in an interview that the members are preparing for more solo projects soon.

Jihyo’s solo debut also comes 18 years since her joining JYP Entertainment as a trainee at 8 years old. Since then, it is clear that she has come such a long way to improve her skills and to mold herself into the artist that she is now. With 6 of 7 tracks in her EP under her name, she has truly peaked as the best version of herself.

‘Zone’ has 7 tracks of varying genres highlighting Jihyo’s artistry and vocal prowess—the title track in particular, ‘Killin’ Me Good’ is described as a “rhythmical and groovy song that stands out with Jihyo’s rich tone and vocals”.

Other tracks feature American rapper 24kGoldn (‘Talkin’ About It’) and a duet with Heize (‘Don’t Wanna Go Back’), who had also participated in the production of the song. Jihyo also participated in the production of 6 of 7 tracks in her EP.

ONCEs were highly anticipating the TWICE leader’s solo debut even before it had been rumored to be so, and when the EP dropped, their reactions were nothing short of amazement.

Truly, God Jihyo has the best solo debut this year, and she’s not stopping there.
