SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups to temporarily halt activities due to torn ACL, will undergo surgery

K-pop group SEVENTEEN’s leader S.Coups (born Choi Seungcheol) will take a pause in participating in the group’s current activities after suffering from a knee injury. He will have to undergo surgery.

On August 10, Choi sustained an injury on his left knee while shooting for content and was immediately brought to the hospital where he underwent a comprehensive medical examination and identified a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), said SEVENTEEN’s agency, PLEDIS, in a notice on the fan community app Weverse.

“The artist is receiving necessary medical treatment prior to the surgery as recommended by the medical staff and will undergo surgery as soon as possible. We will provide another update on the progression of treatments and his rehabilitation schedule at a later time,” the notice reads.

As such, they shared that Choi will be unable to participate in the majority of the group’s official activities, whereas Choi will focus on his recovery through surgery and rehabilitation.

SEVENTEEN is set to embark on a concert tour across five cities in Japan starting in September, as a part of their Follow tour – which began in South Korea last July.

The group is also in preparation for a comeback in October, following their highly successful 10th mini album FML, featuring the hit song “Super.”

“I’m sad that there are many things planned, but I think the first thing is to recover as soon as possible and show a good performance to CARATs (fandom name), so I’m going to focus on recovery for the time being and consider treatment and rehabilitation as a top priority,” Choi assured his fans wrote on Weverse.

Meanwhile, fellow member Boo Seungkwan is set to return from hiatus and would be back “by September at the latest,” after temporarily halting activities due to health reasons last July.
