If there’s one thing sadder than seeing humans get evicted from their homes, it’s seeing animals get booted out of theirs — especially when they have no choice in the matter.
In a post titled “Saddest moment ever,” Imgur user NeedMoreSun posted two photos that will make your heart crumble: a squirrel returning to his tree — only to discover his home has been cut down.
According to NeedMoreSun:
“This squirrel used to live in this tree. Two weeks ago our neighbors decided to cut it down. This is the first time I’ve seen him back standing where his house used to be.”
Imgur users shared their sentiments in the comment section, most suggesting the OP build the squirrel a house to help out. Some are not as sympathetic, with one person saying, “It is quite likely the tree was planted and tended by humans, not mother nature. Squirrel was therefore a squatter.”
