For Marvel fans, Avengers: Infinity War left many stunned and somewhat heartbroken. It was through that film that moviegoers had to (temporarily) say goodbye to their new favorite heroes.
But even though the movie premiered two years ago, the Marvel production team still treats fans with never-before-seen clips and images taken during production. In fact, just today, the Avengers: Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely surprised fans with a plot revelation–at one point in the movie, Doctor Strange was supposed to wear Iron Man’s suit!
So, there were other versions of this rescue. Some were just too awesome (and long) to keep. But still, one can dream… #Infinitywar #QuarantineWatchParty -SM pic.twitter.com/ZToVfWpnHg

In a watch party hosted by ComicBook.com, Markus and McFeely explained the story behind the image. According to the screenwriters, this scene happened in an alternate universe, wherein Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) would “suit up” to stop Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) in one of the earth-invasion sequences.
This scene, however, was replaced with the footage of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) saving Strange from Ebony Maw.
Although the shot never made it to the big screen, Markus and McFeely noted that the scene was “too awesome (and long) to keep”–even referencing Cumberbatch in costume as “Iron Strange.”
Since the livestream was released, many took to Twitter to comment their thoughts about it. One online user said, “I think this was a missed opportunity for both these actors to say ‘No Shit Sherlock!’ @RobertDowneyJr @Cumberbitches.” While many others were quick to suggest that the production release the deleted scenes for Marvel fans to see.
Truthfully, we fans would be down to see all the versions and alternate endings to one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) biggest and greatest films. Make it happen please, Marvel!
