WATCH: Priest accidentally activates wacky filters during mass livestream

As people resort to livestreaming concerts, classes and the like while the world is on quarantine, an Italian priest joined the new norm but with an unintended yet hilarious twist — he gave a mass donning goofy virtual costumes.

Italian priest Paolo Longo’s livestream of a mass went viral after he accidentally turned on the filter-generating feature of Facebook Live.

Clips of the now-deleted Facebook Live post have been circulating the internet as the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic, giving people some much-needed smiles and laughs in these dire times.

Twitter user Gavin Shoebridge (@KiwiEV) managed to share a clip of the livestream, which has now gained more than 74,000 retweets and over 285,000 likes since yesterday.

The religious leader held the mass “wearing” a sci-fi helmet at one point and lifting dumbbells in another. He even turned into a mobster with shades and a black fedora hat, all thanks to filters.

Longo’s effort is just one of the many instances where people have tried to virtually conduct events that usually bring a lot of people together. The virtual stagings of these activities go in line with social distancing measures advised by officials, to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In the Philippines, Christian churches have also resorted to holding virtual masses to continue spreading the Gospel even under the enhanced community quarantine. Several musicians, meanwhile have been holding online concerts and even classes via livestreaming. JB
