The ‘Taco Cleanse’: A ‘tortilla-based diet’ that will change your life

Let’s face it–a lot of us have already included “losing weight” in our list of New Year’s resolutions. And though the road to healthier eating and exercise may be tedious, a lot of people are putting in the time and effort to learn more about the diets and regimens that may help them lose those unwanted pounds.

But one particular diet that many people don’t always consider (and might even not know about) is the “Taco Cleanse”. Created by vegan taco scientists from Austin, Texas, and collated into a cookbook entitled The Taco Cleanse: The Tortilla-Based Diet Proven to Change Your Life, this new dietary plan allows people to eat one or more variants of the dish without feeling guilty or deprived.

“While the typical cleanse works by depriving you of your favorite foods, the plant-based Taco Cleanse rewards your body with what it naturally craves: tortillas, refried beans, guacamole!” as stated in the book’s Amazon description.

Additionally, the book has 75 vegan recipes–that ranges from breakfast tacos to homemade tortilla wraps–and reportedly “improves one’s outlook and provides them with lasting results“.

Since the book has been released in 2015, a number of people are trying out the detox plan and are finding its recipes delicious and satisfying.

One online user reviewed the book saying, “Each time you indulge in any combination of tortillas, fillings, and toppings, your chakras will shed their toxins. Your aura will glow with the radiance of taco spices. You will feel peace.” While another commented, “It is a very tongue and cheek book. It is a cleanse for the mind and soul more than a diet technique. So far the Chocolate Raspberry Tacos, The Wake and Shake Scramble, and the Sriracha Agave Tenders have been a delight for my mind, soul, and taste buds!”
