‘Stronger than yesterday’: Britney Spears takes a little ‘me time’ for her mental well-being

For 27 years, the “Toxic” singer has been entertaining us with her chart-topping pop songs and jaw-dropping music videos—making her one of the greatest pop icons in the world. But just like the rest of us, Spears’ life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

We live in a society where the term “mental health” is sometimes associated with a stigma. That even admitting to having lived with a mental illness can be very difficult and oftentimes, require an immense level of bravery.

While there are people who would rather keep their mental health issues to themselves, international pop star Britney Spears believed that getting professional help is best for her emotional well-being. As a matter of fact, she just took a big step by checking herself into a mental health facility where she will be receiving care for 30 days.

Since Spears and her dad have a very close relationship, her father’s serious illness is currently taking a toll on her. According to TMZ, Jamie Spears had undergone 2 surgeries to repair issues with his intestines and colon—but the second surgery has really caused major complications to him. A few months ago, ’90s singer announced that she was going on an indefinite work hiatus to help care for her dad.

She even posted a picture of them along with the caption, “I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.”

And on Wednesday, right before the news broke out, the singer posted an image that said, “Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Mind. Body. Spirit.” It was also captioned, “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.'”

With everything that has been going on with her life, millions are still hoping that she’ll be back on track and her dad will be able to recover from the complications.
