LOOK: Poachers brutally harvest turtle’s eggs, then leave it to die in the beach

Despite all the efforts made by animal rights activists and advocates, a number of individuals are still able to poach land and aquatic creatures for profit. And we’ve seen cases of this online – from the brutal skinning of birds and felines to the gruesome slaughter of whales and dolphins.

This proliferation of animal abuse has been going on for centuries and if we don’t put an end to it now, we may have to say goodbye to many of our favorite species.

Last November 2, another incident of animal poaching was recorded by the Sea Shepherd Operation Jairo Campaign. According to the organization’s Facebook post, the turtle in the following photos was found on the shore of the beach bleeding profusely from having her eggs forcibly harvested by poachers.

“This was a vicious attack by poachers who were too impatient to even wait for her to lay her eggs but whom had decided instead to savagely slice her open and steal her babies from within her. The poachers then cast her back into the ocean to die a slow death, covering their crime of killing an endangered mother turtle and her babies,” Sea Shepherd Operation Jairo Campaign writes.

The members of the group later dug a grave and buried the deceased turtle’s body.

Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality we face in our world today. And without your help in creating awareness for cases like this, we may never see another turtle on the beach again. Put an end to animal cruelty today and contact the proper authorities if you see any improper handling of animals in your area.
